Techno Babel

“An obsolete instrument of bronze or steel, formerly used to kill men, but here in the sense of a symbol.” — Robinson Jeffers

The Babel breed with machinery
to distance themselves
from embarrassed monkey origins—

They weld droning metal robots
into soft, fleshy palms,
isolating minds with wordy radiation—

They abandon offspring to plastic nipple supping,
sibling mannequin-models,
and adoptive boxes of smiling indoctrination—

Beliefs are production line and profitable,
designed to separate the masses quietly from themselves
to competing paradigms of combustible dependence—

Communication is connected online,
yet removed to single cell cubicles
of independent seclusion—

Their breeding is violent and disconnected,
a masturbation of the self, for the animal self—
a genetic feign of interest for reproduction’s sake—

The newborn drop out screaming and bloodstained,
crying for a snip of life or death,
freedom from the mother—

Into the cold steel hands of a great chopping machine—

Steve Owen's writing is based upon the seedy underbelly of the American dream/reality -- especially that of the dysfunctional family. Having grown up in and barely escaped his own abusive family environment, and having worked as a counselor with emotionally disturbed (abused) children for (going) on four years now -- he has a lot to share with our society in regards to what really goes on...and shouldn't. However, he also looks into the polluted pot of politics and religion - national, international, historical -- and enjoys tearing apart the paradigms of any scared cow. His goal is to be truly non-biased and intellectually honest.
