All there Is
i'll give you plenty of "like"
but if it's "love" you're after
check at the diner down on the corner
they have specials running all the time
i took mine "to-go" once upon a time
and it was spoiled before i got it home
bled through the bottom of the carton
stained my love seat
so i had to throw both away
and settle for a receipt to put up on the fridge
with one of those stupid magnets
that is about as strong as love is brief
i'll give you plenty of "like"
invite you over for a home cooked meal
then see you to the door
before you get too comfortable
but then all i own now are two old wooden chairs
and they are as awkward
as my forced smile
and my sweaty hands
that retract when you try to place them in yours
i wish i could be better entertainment for you
but i don't need a TV to live a daytime soap
and after dark, i tend to read old love letters by candlelight
saves electricity and me shorting out again
so if you can like "like"
and that suits you
drop by
but if you love "love"
my porch light is burnt out
and the bulb will burn your fingers
if you try to replace it.
