Anniversaries
Anniversaries are for adversaries
who can be antagonistic
go ballistic once a year
an annual anatomy dissection
with rustic discipline
just disintegration
one’s faults and failings
open to sadistic evisceration
Anima airs, animal actions
anniversary victims
some survive, none ready
but another one comes ‘round.
Forget candle light, roses & wine
old fashioned waltzes,
the Victorians are gone.
Over
salt stinging tears drip
icy wringing fingertips
wedding ring slips off
