Ascend These Remnants Echoing

I want to know there's grace
beyond your Gioconda smile.
Walk with me through this valley
in Nevada, where petroglyphs cling
to crumbling rock facades
tense with old igneous waiting.

I want to know you hear them,
tribal devotions in stone.
When we become one with deer
secrets once silent will sing.
There you leave your i-Pod
as offering before it rains,

& we see this mountain finally
with vermilion spire shedding
the obscure mist

of earthly
symbols.
