Maybe Love Really is the Answer
It's winter now, and cold, and this morning
by the confluence of two rivers
I stood and prayed the rosary, stamping and blowing.
I never know what good this does,
but afterward I felt a little better. A little clearer.
Mist was rising from the surface of the water,
and the sun was coming out,
and there seemed to be several stories
of light and mist and air, then a range of hills
I hadn't known was there.
Every vocation is a mystery.
Even the smoke that poured from the factory
was thick and bright. A beautiful rose.
