Morning Routine

Chrome legged table,
early morning steam,
firmly slippered feet
on cold linoleum floor.

Soft lips
pursued around cup,
leaves behind
a lipstick trail.

Teeth blurred
by morning coffee,
edges dulled.

Sun shines
in patches
on counter tops,
shows
the cracks and crumbs
of living:
morning routine.
